  • Gold Bioleaching of Electronic Waste by Cyanogenic

This work compares gold bioleaching from e-waste containing gold and copper by Chromobacterium violaceum and Pseudomonas fluorescens. The effect of pulp density (ranging from 0.5 to 8 w/v) was examined. Although C. violaceum produced more cyanide than P. fluorescens in the absence of e-waste P. fluorescens showed higher growth rate cyanide production and gold leaching efficiency at all pulp

  • Toll Policies for Mitigating Hazardous Materials Transport

We propose a mathematical formulation as well as a solution method for the hazardous materials toll problem. Based on a comparative analysis of proposed mathematical models we show that toll policies can be more effective than the popular network design policies that identify road segments to be closed for vehicles carrying hazardous materials.

  • Catastrophe Avoidance Models for Hazardous Materials Route

The most-widely used definition of risk in the hazardous materials transportation literature is the expected consequence of an incident (accident resulting in a release) which for each edge of the network is equal to the product of the incident probability and a quantifiable consequence (such as number of people evacuated). This definition ignores the risk-averse attitudes of many decision

We survey research on hazardous materials transportation in the areas of risk analysis routing/scheduling and facility location. Our focus is primarily on work done since 1980 and on research which is methodological rather than empirical. We also limit our focus to transport by land-based vehicles (truck and rail) excluding pipeline air and maritime movements.
